A Venn diagram

Er, Piagram. In fact, the most delicious Venn diagram you're likely to encounter. Ostensibly created for Pi Day (it was late), but there's really not a bad time of year for something like this.

In defense of boredom. Soul crushing boredom, even

I must admit, I've been quite at home in my own mind. There are lots of fun things to discover there.

» The Importance of Mind-Wandering
When people are immersed in monotony, they automatically lapse into a very special form of brain activity: mind-wandering. In a culture obsessed with efficiency, mind-wandering is often derided as a l…

Snip.it

This is in private beta right now, but it looks like a compelling replacement for the social aspects of GReader, in case you end up not liking what Google rolls out by way of G+ integration. I am going to test it out and will report back as soon as 1) I am in and 2) I've had a chance to really use it.

(As a side note, I realize it probably won't really be better than Google Reader for that set of features that really made Reader shine, but since disruptions like this tend to make people experiment with pretty much anything, it's possible whatever set of features this site has will be good enough.)

Just watch this

And try to keep your mouth closed the whole time. I couldn't; in fact, I think my jaw was dropped the whole time. First, because operating a lathe and getting a good result is actually harder than it looks (if you don't practice, all you get is rounded crap). Second, I vastly enjoy watching master craftsmen work with their hands (and feet). Third, I have an interest in woodworking that dispenses with all of these noisy electric tools (some of which I still have). This is simply elegant.

Maybe I'm missing something

I would put this in the same category as that anxiety-inducing fishbowl from a couple of weeks ago. In case you can't tell and don't read German, this is an art installation consisting of dandelions, preserved to keep them nice and fluffy looking.

I like this idea

Too bad we can't make them from local leaves, though.
