And try to keep your mouth closed the whole time. I couldn't; in fact, I think my jaw was dropped the whole time. First, because operating a lathe and getting a good result is actually harder than it looks (if you don't practice, all you get is rounded crap). Second, I vastly enjoy watching master craftsmen work with their hands (and feet). Third, I have an interest in woodworking that dispenses with all of these noisy electric tools (some of which I still have). This is simply elegant.
